Frequently asked questions
What is Tilish?
An open news reader for everyone: the big stories that newsrooms here and elsewhere are covering, in French and English, grouped so you know what's going on in a few minutes. One story told by several outlets takes one line, and storylines that run for days or weeks have their own page.
Who decides what I see?
Not a feed built to get clicks. Top stories are ranked by how many newsrooms cover a story. With an account, Tilish can also bring forward what interests you; it tells you why, and you can remove an interest or turn learning off.
Why “Tilish”?
It's a play on “Today I Learned”, -ish: a bit of everything you pick up during the day, without pretending to cover it all.
How much does it cost? Do I need an account?
Nothing, and you don't need an account to read. A free account lets you follow storylines and stories, see what moved since your last visit, keep your teams and interests, and have a personal dashboard. If you enjoy Tilish, tell your friends and share it on social media: that's the best way to help us grow.
Where does the news come from?
From the public feeds of Canadian outlets, in French and English. Tilish shows the headline, a short excerpt and the image, then sends you to the outlet's site to read the article.
What do you do with my data?
Reading Tilish needs no account, and visits are counted with no identifier and no cookie. With an account, what you read is only used to personalize Tilish for you: it never leaves Tilish and is never sold. You can see your interests, remove them or turn learning off, and ask for your account to be deleted at [email protected]. Details are in the privacy policy.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, in the browser, and the same account works on your computer and your phone. You can also add Tilish to your home screen.
